Statement
My work comments on issues of identity, psychological dynamics and shared physical spaces.
This intuitive practice forges relationships between reality and perception and questions standardized cultural norms. Conjoining the political and the spiritual, my recent work reinforces and explores the effects of migration and the perception of self in public and private arenas. Using historic references to investigate the importance of seemingly archaic rites and rituals, I track visceral and sensual exchanges between appearance and meaning.
My work often uses a narrative voice to consider how relationships to body, the other and place mutate as we mature. A focus on the symbiosis of time, perception and change reverberates throughout my work.
